SMART GX Plus vs ViewSonic ViewBoard

# The demonstration lasts an hour. Your school lives with the decision.

Teachers prepare on one device, teach on another and adapt when a class needs a different explanation. Your classroom system should let the lesson continue through those changes.

For schools comparing GX Plus and [ViewBoard](https://www.c3itxperts.com/products/interactive-flat-panels/viewsonic-panels?hsLang=en), the decision is about the teaching software, the work teachers can carry forward and the support needed to make it part of the school day.

[Discuss Your Classroom Plan](https://meetings-na2.hubspot.com/manoj/edtech-consulting) [Get the Reset Guide](https://www.c3itxperts.com/smart-classroom-reset-guide?hsLang=en)

For the teacher **Keep useful lesson material. Build on it.**

For the school **Plan teaching, student access and support together.**

The classroom test

## Follow one lesson from preparation to feedback.

- Open the files teachers already use
- Continue the lesson on the classroom device
- Ask a question when the class needs it
- Keep the lesson and questions for reuse

Go to[Classroom use](https://www.c3itxperts.com/products/interactive-flat-panels/smart-vs-viewsonic#classroom-use)[GX Plus setup](https://www.c3itxperts.com/products/interactive-flat-panels/smart-vs-viewsonic#gx-plus-setup)[ViewSonic benefits](https://www.c3itxperts.com/products/interactive-flat-panels/smart-vs-viewsonic#viewsonic-benefits)[Side by side](https://www.c3itxperts.com/products/interactive-flat-panels/smart-vs-viewsonic#side-by-side)[Our recommendation](https://www.c3itxperts.com/products/interactive-flat-panels/smart-vs-viewsonic#c3-recommendation)[Questions](https://www.c3itxperts.com/products/interactive-flat-panels/smart-vs-viewsonic#common-questions)

The difference that matters

## Look at how the lesson moves between the tools.

On GX Plus, the embedded Android Whiteboard, desktop Notebook and browser-based Lumio have separate roles. With myViewBoard, teachers can continue compatible lessons across supported devices and bring questions into the teaching canvas. The practical test is a complete lesson on the equipment and accounts your school will use.

SMART GX Plus

### Whiteboard on the panel. Notebook and Lumio alongside it.

The GX Plus Android Whiteboard is separate from Notebook, which must be installed on a connected computer. Lumio runs separately in a browser. Notebook resources can be imported into Lumio; check what the teacher must open, connect and transfer.

ViewSonic ViewBoard

### Prepare on one device. Continue on another.

Prepare a lesson on a Windows laptop, teach it on an Android ViewBoard, then continue working on an iPad. Saved lesson files or connected cloud storage carry the work between them. Check the school’s devices against the compatibility notes below.

The lesson moves with the teacher.

**Prepare**Windows laptop

**Teach**Android ViewBoard

**Continue**iPad

Save the lesson, open it on the next supported device, and keep working.

What teachers gain

## Keep the lesson moving across devices and classrooms.

The useful advantage is continuity: familiar material, several lesson canvases ready to use, and a question created at the moment it will help.

01

### Start with the material teachers already have

Bring PDFs, JPEG images and presentation material into myViewBoard. Use Hub to prepare from PowerPoint and Google Slides. Teachers can build on familiar resources rather than recreate a lesson.

02

### Keep the next explanation ready in a tab

Open multiple lesson canvases and switch between them. A diagram, worked example and practice activity can stay ready in the same session, giving the teacher a practical way to change direction during a lesson.

03

### Turn what is on screen into a question

Select an area of a picture, diagram or example and launch a question from myViewBoard. Students respond on connected devices. No separate quiz needs to have been built before the lesson.

Understanding the GX Plus setup

## Three applications. Know the job of each.

GX Plus provides its own Android Whiteboard. Notebook and Lumio add different teaching capabilities through separate applications. They should be demonstrated as the school will actually use them.

### What belongs in the demonstration

- Write, save and reopen work in the GX Plus Whiteboard
- Download and install Notebook on the proposed computer
- Open the school’s Notebook lessons through that computer
- Import suitable Notebook resources into Lumio
- Run the intended Lumio activity on the panel’s actual browser

### A fair test of the complete setup

Notebook authoring and Lumio collaboration are genuine strengths. Include the computer, browser, sign-ins and network in the demonstration. Test the panel’s Android browser directly; a smooth activity on a presenter’s laptop does not establish the experience on the school’s panel.

Why we lean towards ViewSonic

## Ask the question while the lesson is still in progress.

A teacher sees uncertainty, selects part of the explanation on screen and sends it as a question. ClassSwift-powered Quiz Tools bring the responses back into the lesson, giving the teacher a basis for deciding what to explain next.

Use the explanation already on screen.

**Select**Part of the lesson

**Ask**Students respond

**Respond**Use the results

A teaching sequence, illustrated. Objective questions use the teacher’s answer key; open responses need review.

### Less preparation for a useful classroom check

- Capture a picture, diagram or worked example from the lesson
- Choose the question format and invite responses
- Set the correct answer for objective questions
- Let the system calculate those results
- Review misconceptions before moving to the next concept

### Keep the work for the next class

Keep lessons and questions in the teacher’s Hub library. Questions captured while signed in can be retained for reuse. Build a shared collection of reviewed resources for the department, so a useful explanation or question can support another class or colleague.

What makes the advantage practical

## Plan the conditions that let teachers use it.

Continuity across devices and quick classroom questions are useful when the files, accounts, student access and support have been set up properly.

### Use the devices your teachers have

Demonstrate compatible lessons on the school’s [Android and Windows devices](https://www.c3itxperts.com/it-infrastructure?hsLang=en), and supported Apple devices where relevant. Check fonts, layout and required features before standardising.

### Keep teaching possible when the connection drops

Prepare local lesson files. GX Plus Whiteboard and myViewBoard support local work; Lumio, Hub, cloud access and live online questions need connectivity. Make the distinction clear to teachers.

### Match the question to the response

Individual digital answers need suitable student devices and a network. Objective questions can have results calculated against an answer key. Drawings and explanations still require teacher judgement.

### Give useful lessons a life beyond one period

Organise lessons and quizzes in Hub, agree how teachers will reuse and share approved resources, and include [follow-up support](https://www.c3itxperts.com/professional-development-training?hsLang=en). The school should retain the work it invests in developing.

Side by side

## Compare the teaching setup, not just the badge.

Scope: SMART GX Plus software arrangements and ViewBoard’s myViewBoard ecosystem. Hardware specifications and software access vary by exact model, version and purchased plan. For panel sizes, installation and computing options, see our [interactive display buying guide](https://www.c3itxperts.com/interactive-displays?hsLang=en).

C3’s recommendation

## For a new classroom rollout, we recommend ViewSonic.

### GX Plus merits consideration when…

- Notebook authoring suits the school’s established lessons
- Lumio collaboration supports the intended classroom activities
- The school has planned the separate computer and browser use
- The complete setup works with the school’s network and teachers

### ViewSonic is our recommendation when…

- Teachers prepare and teach across different supported devices
- The school wants existing resources and lesson tabs in daily use
- Teachers need to ask and review questions during explanation
- Leadership wants reusable resources, [training](https://www.c3itxperts.com/professional-development-training?hsLang=en) and [IT support](https://www.c3itxperts.com/it-infrastructure?hsLang=en) planned together

Before you place the order

## Questions school leaders need answered.

C3 iT Xperts supplies and implements ViewSonic education solutions. We make our recommendation openly, using official product documentation and the school’s classroom requirements. Software functions, access and compatibility must be confirmed for the setup supplied. Reviewed 27 October 2026.

How are the GX Plus Whiteboard, Notebook and Lumio different?

GX Plus has its own embedded Android Whiteboard. Notebook is a separate desktop application installed on a connected Windows or Mac computer, such as an appropriate OPS PC. Lumio is a separate browser-based teaching service. Notebook files can be imported into Lumio, but these are distinct applications; do not assume a Notebook lesson runs inside the GX Plus Android Whiteboard.

Can teachers continue the same myViewBoard lesson on another device?

Teachers can use compatible lesson files across supported Android, Windows and Apple devices, using saved files or connected storage to move their work. This is useful when preparing on one device and teaching on another. Check the devices and versions the school uses. The native Apple whiteboard app is listed for iPad and supported Macs; iPhone Companion provides different functions.

Can a teacher ask a question without preparing a quiz beforehand?

Yes. In myViewBoard, the teacher can select an area of the lesson, capture it and choose a question type. Students answer on compatible connected devices. A diagram, image or worked example can become a check for understanding during teaching, without building a separate quiz in advance.

Which answers can the system mark?

Multiple-choice and true/false questions can be checked against the correct answer supplied by the teacher, with results calculated by the system. This reduces manual checking for those questions. Written explanations, drawings and other open responses still need teacher review; automatic marking should not be promised for every response type.

Which lesson files can teachers use?

myViewBoard supports common teaching material including PDFs, images such as JPEGs, and supported presentation formats. Hub supports preparation from PowerPoint and Google Slides. Multiple lesson canvases can be kept in tabs. Supported formats and conversion behaviour vary, so we demonstrate the school’s actual files rather than promise that every file imports identically.

Can teachers build a library of lessons and questions?

Hub provides a lesson library and Quiz Collection. Questions captured while signed in can be retained for reuse. For department or school sharing, agree the resource-sharing arrangements and account permissions in the proposed setup. The aim is to retain useful work so colleagues can build on it.

What should a school with limited bandwidth plan for?

Keep the essential lesson material available locally. Both GX Plus Whiteboard and myViewBoard support local work. Lumio, Hub, cloud access and live online student responses need connectivity. Demonstrate the full lesson on the actual panel and school network, including what happens when internet access is interrupted.

Why does C3 recommend ViewSonic for a new rollout?

We favour the continuity between preparing material, teaching, asking questions and reusing the work, supported by myViewBoard across compatible devices and Manager for campus administration. C3 plans the equipment, accounts, teacher development and support around the school’s needs. The recommendation covers the complete implementation, not the display alone.

See the continuity for yourself
